How You Can Change
the World
| The revolution is in CONSCIOUSNESS,
not in DOING. Once you change your consciousness from "Breaker" to
"Mender", your actions will change.
Trying to change behavior, without changing the underlying consciousness that causes the behavior, has always failed to achieve lasting change. |
| The movement to a new society will not be the project of any organization. Just living your life, with a Mender consciousness, is sufficient to catalyze the change | ||||
What Commonway does is help Menders to identify each other easier, and help to make the movement more visible to other potential Menders. On the other hand, it is unhelpful and perhaps irresponsible to stir people up yet provide no direction or guidance in how to accomplish the new society. In this section (and elsewhere in the Commonway
website) there are ideas, experiments, projects and activities that you
can adapt to your locale.

TO CREATE A WORLD THAT WORKS FOR ALL? |
REGISTER YOUR PLEDGE |
Take a minute to register
your pledge to create a world that works for all.
You know you are changing the world. You can tell us that you are. We will put you in contact with other world changers in your area.

| For the text of the Mender Pledge, click here | To register your pledge, send an e-mail to: pledge@commonway.org | |||
DONATE
Donate to Commonway, in dollars, the equivalent of one hour of your time.
| Right now, you “donate” 10 hours of your time per week (or more) to the federal government. They make nuclear weapons, pay for research in genetic engineering, support the WTO, and bomb other countries... with your money. | ||||
| We are asking you to donate a small portion of your work time, one hour, to make an authentic, sustainable, inclusive society. We will use it to fund our projects in society-building, inclusive dialogs, peace-making and cultural transformation. | ||||

ORGANIZE A READING GROUP |
Using either "Creating a World That Works For All" or "The Power of One: Authentic Leadership in Turbulent Times" as a basis, people around the country are self-organizing reading groups. In the groups, they discuss concepts like “enoughness”, inclusivity and spirituality.

READ
In the ten years that it has been in print, “The Power of One” has increased in popularity each year!
| One suggestion: it is a popular book for parents and high school to college age children to read together. | |||

READ
"CREATING
If you read a little over a chapter a day, it will take 7 or 8 days to finish the book. While it can be read much faster, take your time, see how the concepts fit within your world view, perhaps strike up conversations with others on the necessity to create a new society.
| When you read this book, what are the sticking points, the difficult concepts for you? | |||

DO A COMMONWAY PROJECT! |
Start and participate in a Commonway project or activity. We are working on making the simpler Commonway projects self-administering, or doable with a minimum of training. These range from something as simple as conducting a “Commons Cafe” in your local area to the ambitious “One Month for Peace in Sri Lanka”
| Commonway will help with project outlines, study guides and training in how to execute Commonway projects in your locale. | |||
| For more information on how to initiate a Commonway project, please read carefully the project information contained in the “Projects and Activities” section of this website, then contact us at projects@commonway.org | |||
